A group of tuskers have once again wreaked havoc at Chhachania village under Gomia block, around 60 km from the district headquarters here on Friday morning. A rampaging tusker trampled crops and damaged 13 houses. Gomia MlA, Madhav lal Singh said on Saturday, elephants entered at Chhachania village early morning on Friday .
This time the tuskers went on rampage and destroyed crops in the village and 13 mud houses out of 16, were totally destroyed by them but no casualty was reported from any one — Singh further added . local administration has distributed 25 kgs, rice to each one and also given crackers, kerosene, and torches to the villagers and has asked them to alert.
They have been asked to inform the forest department officials immediately once the tusker is spotted.
