Even after the Supreme Court’s historic decision against the practice of triple talaq prevalent in muslim community, Kaifi Alam of Badam village of Barkagaon block of Hazaribagh district dishonored this decision very next day by saying Talaq Talaq Talaq to his wife Fatma Suraiya.
According to Fatma Suraiya everything was normal in her home when at about 5 pm she gave snacks and tea to her husband Kaifi, who suddenly said Talaq Talaq Talaq to her and then she was thrown out of her home with her four year old son Abdul Rahman by the family members.
When the information reached to Fatma’s family which resides at Chitarpur Ramgarh, they rushed to Barkagaon and first tried to solve the matter peacefully with Kaifi and his family members. Failing to do that they contacted the members of Anjuman Committee but the committee members instead of taking any action against Kaifi and his family members told Fatma and her family members to wait for at least 20 days.
On Saturday, Fatma approached Barkagaon police station narrating the incident and blamed that her husband and his family members were regularly demanding money and other items from her parents since her marriage which had taken place in 2012. “I and my family was waiting as per instruction of Anjuman committee but we came to know that Kaifi is going to marry another girl within these 20 days and the local committee had given this time after hearing the matter in connivance with the family members of Kaifi,” she said.
Officer incharge of Barkagaon police station said that it is a sensitive matter. “We are investigating it thoroughly. Meanwhile a case has been registered against Kaifi Alam, his mother S Parveen, his father Fakre Alam, sister Subaiya Alam and brother in law Parwez Alam under section 341, 323, 307, 498A, 34 and 3/4 of dowry act. The case no. is 148/17.”
Talking to newsmen the victim Fatma Suraiya said, “I have full faith in the judiciary and government and hoped that I will get justice soon.” Now everyone is waiting for the action of Hazaribagh police and Anjuman committee of Hazaribagh district.
