Leisure buffs pondering to see some rich tribal art work anthologies ranging from Sohrai to Kohbar to Dokra arts of the tribal land will soon get an opportunity to witness a few dying art-forms crafted out aesthetically at a puja pandal. State Capital’s major centre of attraction – RR Sporting Club, which has registered a significant presence among the devotees for its unique presentation styles has come up with a traditional theme.
In a bid to promote the dying tribal art forms, the organising committee of this prime puja pandal has switched over from contemporary theme to indigenous design for the first time.“This is one of the most attractive puja pandals of the Capital City. Attempts are made every year to select a theme that engrosses the attention of devotees with its exceptional presentation style. The prime aim to select tribal art theme is to present the State’s rich legacy of art, culture and make public aware about its dying bequest,” said president RR Sporting Club, Rahul Yadav.
To bring out the quintessence of the tribal concept, pertinent use of light and sound technique has been done along with focusing on puja pandal decoration inspired from adivasi customs. Known for its interior and exterior designs including special light effects, the enormous presentation draws the attention of devotees from adjoining areas to witness its aesthetic façade every year. The RR Sporting club puja committee is preparing puja pandal based on a selected themes since 1982.
Being decorated at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh, artists along with technicians are designing the eco friendly model with thermocol and other biodegradable materials while inking tribal miniscule tribal art forms on ply boards. “The entire pandal is being primed up with eco-friendly materials. Idols are being prepared using coloured wax, terracotta and plaster of paris whereas decoration is being done using thermocol, ply boards and other recyclable materials,” Yadav added.
An artist who was busy inking some traditional relics on thermocol on the pandal premises said, “The concept for this year is quite difficult but once it is carved out, this puja pandal will stand out in the league as by far no puja samiti has come up with such kind of a theme which has both rustic and modern appeal. Apart from idols and pandal decoration, the illumination effects will mesmerize the visitors and add on to the beauty of pandal.”
