The State police is likely to come up with a new transfer policy soon enabling each of its officials to get all types of postings during their service period. According to DGP Rajiv Kumar, a list of errant police officials are ready with the State police, who will be transferred soon after the policy gets approval from the Government.
“In the new transfer policy, utmost care is being taken that every individual should get a chance to be posted at all kind of areas like urban, rural, Naxal or remote areas of the State,” said the DGP. We would also try not to give a chance to anyone to have any grievance against their postings, he added.
Kumar, referring to the recent instruction issued by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, said his department had made all preparations to comply the directions issued by CM in this regard. “We have prepared the list of those officials and comply with the orders as soon as the new transfer policy gets its approval from the Government,” the DGP added.
The Chief Minister had directed during a meeting with Chief Secretary, DGP along with other district and administrative officials on Tuesday to remove corrupt Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors who have been posted in the coal district like Ranchi, Dhnabad, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh or Giridih since a long time and send them to the Naxal infested areas.
The DGP also said the vacancies in the police department would soon be filled. “Around 17,000 vacancies in the police department, including the post of 9,000 constables will be filled soon,” said Kumar. According to the DGP, the department was also making purchases and of several vehicles and motorcycles, under the modernization programme of Jharkhand police, enabling them to make quick movements. “Around 7,000-8,000 police vehicles, which has been declared condemned vehicle, will also be replaced with new and modern ones,” he said.
The uneven terrain of naxal infested areas in far off villages and jungles makes it difficult for the police to use heavy vehicles, said sources and therefore purchase of motorbikes and other two-wheelers will aid to effective and efficient policing in the State.
