Traders at Chamber’s door, oppose demolition of shops

Published on:

Traders protesting against the demolition of shops and buildings at business hub Upper Bazar area by Civic body, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), today urged Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) to intervene in the matter. The traders stated that the RMC plan, for demolition of shops many of these 50 years old, is impractical. The traders claimed that many shops which are in the radar of RMC demolition plan have holding numbers, paying electricity bills, municipal taxes and other government taxes. In such a situation, the Civic body’s demolition plan is illegal. The traders stated that if there is excess of construction then the building can be regularized by charging appropriate fee and penalty. The traders claim that complete demolition of buildings amounts to loss of national property. The traders also questioned if their building is illegal than why the RMC is charging holding taxes from them.
