Town police Daltonganj nabbed a drug peddler identified as Appu Oraon and seized 7.75 gram of drugs from him.

The man booked under a couple of sections of the NDPS act was remanded in judicial custody today, said a press note issued by the police.

Police also recovered 10,100 rupees in cash from Appu Oraon which is the sale proceeds of the drugs here.

There is a locality in Jail Hata in the town Daltonganj which is infamous for drug sales. Residents are pretty disturbed over this sale of drugs here.

Insiders in the drug racket told this correspondent that every week there comes a sizable consignment of drugs from Sasaram Mohania in Bihar.

Drugs are then split up for the adjoining district Garhwa.

The man arrested, Appu Oraon, told police that he got this from one Baba in Garhwa. Police are trying to identify and track this mystery man Baba.

This is the third seizure of the drugs by the town police although in minimal quantity but all three seizures in quick succession are after the lady SP Palamu Reeshma Ramesan took over charge here. It was this newspaper that has highlighted how drugs are taking Daltonganj into its grip.

Drugs are sold in bushes and behind the walls of the government building. It is strange that drug seizure is not heard from other police stations here like Chhaterpur, Japla, Bishrampur, Panki etc where its addicts are not difficult to be found out.
