With New Year round the corner, several picnic spots including waterfalls located in outskirts of State capital have become the most preferred destination for leisure buffs. To ensure safety at these hot spots, district administration has made several arrangements for the well being of visitors.
Policemen and ‘Paryatak Mitras’ appointed by the Tourism Department will be deputed at all major destinations especially all those hot spots located in interior areas. Some prominent picnic spots in the city are Rock Garden, Kanke Dam, Sidho-Kanho Park in Gonda, Nakshatra Van, Aqua world and Jakir Hussain Park in Kotwali, Tagore Hill in Bariatu, Ranchi Hill in Sukhdeongar and Hatia Dam in Dhurwa will be well equipped with the security personnel.
However, all major waterfalls, like Jonha, fall under Anagara police station, Dassam Falls in Bundu, Birsa Munda Biological Park in Ormanjhi, Hundru Falls in Sikidri police station area and Rukka Dam under BIT outpost will also be under security cover as they are few other preferred destinations among the leisure buffs.
“We have deployed police personnel at all major picnic spots. We are also planning to deploy few police personnel in civil uniform to keep an eye on the notorious activities of anti social elements. As the cases of women atrocities have increased in all these isolated areas, few women constables will be present at the spot to assist women and girls. During the weekends, the number of police personnel will be increased,” informed the Rural SP, Rajkumar lakra.
As the incidents of crime have increased and constant untoward incidents have been reported Tourism Department too has collaborated with the local villagers and local police stations to provide safety to the tourists. “Considering the past incidents, this year special arrangements have been made. Dasam fall being one of the most preferred destination, we have deployed 40 ‘Paryatak Mitra’ and have barricaded the area with fences. At other locations like Jonha waterfall and Hundru waterfall, we have deployed 15 tourist guides whereas at Sita waterfalls we have six local residents deputed,” informed Jharkhand Tourism Department Corporation (JTDC) MD, Sunil Kumar.
“To distinguish all these ‘Paryatak Mitra’, JTDC have also provided them uniforms. The corporation is working in collaboration with the local police stations to provide assistance to all the visitors. All these ‘Paryatak Mitra’ are trained divers,” added Kumar.
