Tourism Secretary for slice of comforts to tourists in Jharkhand

Published on:

State tourism secretary Amitabh Kaushal wanted a simple slice of comfort to the  tourists that he conveyed to DCs on his tour to tourists' sites in various districts recently. .

It is simple comforts that are provided to tourists like signages, benches for sitting, gazebo, clean toilet, changing room where there are dams  and water sports etc.

Sources said he came by chopper only to see things meticulously on the ground. Kaushal said that he was shown a five crore worth plan at one tourist site which he said is like 'a big dream to come true.'

His mantra is to promote tourism with assured small and meaningful comforts to tourists as 'small things do wonder'.

Raising heavy infrastructures is 'grotesque' and it fails to deliver in time, he said.' Fanciful projects soothe ears but these have their own drains, he said.

He said that the tourists locations are in the contiguity of the forest and thus 'forest issue' is all the time lurking there which needs to be addressed.

He visited Netarhat on Friday where he said "I was told by DC Latehar Abu Imran that they need one Kolkata train to have a stoppage in their district for tourists of the West Bengal  to come over there easily."

Kaushal described Simdega as Jharkhand's 'hockey capital' and said that it has with it a chunk of land where astroturf stadium can be built there and Amitabh said this proposal of the DC Simdega Sushant Gaurav is worth taking up.

About Parasnath  he said there is a great potential of its being developed and promoted as a religious tourism site with circuits of Buddhism and Jainism as well.

Similarly 'heritage tourism' can be given a filip at Maluti in Dumka where are situated hundred temples in a short space all wearing enormous historicity of time and culture.

As for religious tourism Itkhouri fits the bill most said Amitabh.

He said dams are in Jharkhand to name a few Maithon,  Netarhat, Masanjore etc where locals can eke out a round the year income by sailing boats and arranging cookies to the tourists.

Sources said this is the first marathon visit of any tourism secretary to tourist sites across the state weeks after taking over the charge of the department.
