Tough time for cops in Palamu over chowkidar's offence

Published on:

It was a tough time for DSP Ajay Kumar to calm down the irate mob in Paton police station on Tuesday. The mob wanted Paton police to act swift and fast against its own Chowkidar laxman Manjhi, who in broad day light killed a CRPF jawan Ramesh Kumar Pandey at Khamee Rajhara village shop on Tuesday. The people of Khamee Rajhara village sat in-front of the police station and raised slogans against the police. The DSP Ajay Kumar admitted the anger of the public, but hastened to say that there was no move to shield the Chowkidar or to hush up this sad incident. The CRPF jawan is deployed at Saranda and incidentally he was to return to Saranda on Tuesday when he was murdered brutally, leading to three deep gushes each one stitched by doctor said the DSP.

The Chowkidar and the CRPF jawan are not only co villagers but neighbours too but how and why the Chowkidar lost his sense and knifed the CRPF jawan is a matter of serious investigation as the way the Chowkidar knifed smacked of deep seated vendetta opined the DSP. Chowkidar was assisted by his son in this offence. Of late public in Palamu are immediately hitting streets like village roads, NHs, State highways to protest against either inaction of the police or negative overtures of the police. However the public do not vandalise any property. The chowkidar and his son would be remanded in judicial custody, asserted the DSP.
