So far, 28 per cent growth in revenue and 9 per cent growth in number of passengers has been registered.
Most important station Koderma in Dhanbad division after Dhanbad station on New Delhi Howrah Grand Chord line has maintained its record as revenue earner by maintaining its second position as cash cow for Railway in Financial Year 2013-14.Koderma Junction received Rs25,08,38,822 through sale of reserved and unreserved tickets to 20,01,034 passengers.Senior Commercial Manager of Dhanbad Rail division Dayanand told that during the year 2013-14 17,22,862 passengers traveled in unreserved categories to yield Rs14,00,38,378 and 2,78,172 traveled in reserved categories to yield Rs11,08,00,444.
Besides, booking parcel sections got Rs5,89,341 through transportation of 3828 quintal of goods.Through ticket checking drive conducted by the Ticket Collectors 1,18,024 rupees were collected from 524 passengers and 39,900 rupees were received through bookings of Retiring Room from 289 passengers.Other sources include STD booth Rs5,869, parking Rs18,55,500, stall Rs1,09,687,SBI ATM rent Rs2,95,493, Amul milk counter Rs60,515 public convenience Rs1,70,200 and from Gayatari books stall Rs5,000 received.
During 2013-14 a total of 1,12,65,820 quintals of cement, iron, food grains, manganese, fertilizers, salt and sponge iron were unloaded i.e. much more than 60,18,269 quintals during the corresponding period of 2012-13.21483 wagons of coal transported to Koderma Thermal Power Station in Jaynagar Block through 380 racks. Inspite of being highest revenue earners after Dhanbad in the division the pathetic condition of passengers amenities speak for itself. A good number of passengers from surrounding districts Nawadah (Bihar), Hazaribag, Giridih, Ramgarh, Ranchi travelled to various part of the country via Koderma Junction.However, the bare minimum facility of drinking water is inadequate and coach indications Board is not there. Senior Commercial Manager Dayanand assures of better facilities in future after the commissioning of rail projects that are under progress at the moment.
He added that during the current fiscal year besides coach indications Board, two lifts , deluxe toilets, waiting room in new building and one fast food eatery on down platform are on the cards.Rail Administration is committed to start passenger train movement on Koderma--Hazaribagh track and up to Koderma-Jammua-Giridih track, he said.
