The latehar Police in collaboration with the STF nabbed a hardcore Maoist, said to be the most trusted and relied upon man of the outlawed organisation’s top gun, Arvindji.Confirming this the SP of latehar Anup Birtharey said, the arrested Maoist is identified as Umesh Yadav alias Kamlesh who holds a high place in the central committee of the CPI Maoists’ Koyal Sankh Zone. The security forces had laid a trap and this man of Arvindji just walked into it.The latehar SP said, “The intelligence input on him was precise and most accurate and our boys made no mistake.” Umesh caught under Chhipadohar police station and on Wednesday he was remanded in judicial custody in latehar.
According to the SP Umesh has had a long stint in extremism. His association with it is more than two decades old.The SP said Umesh has seen the hey days of then CPI Ml Party Unity. For Arvindji he is the courier as he takes care of his family, reaches goods of daily use and acts as a go between Arvind and his family.There is one more reason for Arvindji to rely upon him said Anup who added, “ Both Arvind and Umesh come from Bihar’s Jehanabad district. Further Arvind has a mortal fear of any betrayal from his cadres and so he prefers to be surrounded by youths ( read cadres ) from Bihar. Umesh used to rope in more and more Bihari boys into the CPI Maoists bandwagon.”
Sources said in less than a month’s time Arvindji has ‘lost’ two of his most trusted men. The first one caught an jailed used to carry the most sophisticated weapon for him and now this man. Umesh has a dreadful record of crime. He is a jail escapee of 2005 Jehanabad jail break, added the SP.However Umesh was caught in a nursing home in Patna where he had gone to meet an injured cadre Indrajeet. Indrajeet was hurt by cops in latehar’s Koomandi. He was on bail and was coming from Jehanabad for a meeting with Arvind who is in hiding in a stretch spanning from lat Karamdeeh to latoo Burha Pahar.The security forces have recovered varied things from Umesh like Monte Carlo’s shirt, Adidas shoes, 29 trend setter cell phones, 26 sim cards, IEDs, gelatin, detonators.The SP further added two more have been arrested with Umesh and one of the two is the nephew of the jailed Maoist Rohit who before his arrest in Khunti recently had a reward of 10 lakhs of rupees on his head.
