Amid reports that Ranchi Mayor Rama Khalkho has left the State and has flown to Darjeeling to see her son, she is likely to move anticipatory bail application in Ranchi today to avoid arrest. Khalkho is wanted by the police in connection with the money grab case of Sunday where Rs 21.9 lakh was recovered from a hotel room in Ranchi.
According to the sources close to Khalkho, anticipatory bail on behalf of Khalkho might be moved in the Court of Judicial Magistrate Chandan Kumar on Wednesday. Anticipatory Bail Application (ABA) was being prepared her advocates on Thursday.
Warrant against Khalkho was issued by the Ranchi Court in connection with seizure of Rs 21.9 during a raid at Hotel City Palace which was allegedly to be used to influence voters ahead of Municipal Polls. Khalkho, who is also a Mayoral candidate in the Municipal elections held on Monday, was holding a meeting with her supporters along with Ranchi MP Subodh Kant Sahay and other senior leaders of Congress Party.
Two persons Niranjan Sharma and his aide Sudheer Kumar Sahu have been arrested in the connection while Rama Khalkho has been evading arrest since the warrant has been issued against her.
Police however, is still looking for her at all the vulnerable places and conducting raids at various places to nab her. “We act according to the information gathered from our sources, but have not been able to locate her till date. As soon as we find her, she will be arrested,” assured City SP Manoj Ratan Chauthe.
