Tirkey, Patar among 40 file nominations

As many as 40 nominations were made on Wednesday including TMC leader  Bandhu Tirkey and Tamar MlA Gopal Krishna Patar thus taking the tally of nominations to 74 for phase-II by the end of Wednesday. While Tirkey filed nomination for Mandar on the ticket of Trinamool Congress, Patar filed nominations for Tamar as an independent candidate from the constituency.

Incidentally, Patar decided to contest election as independent candidate after Bhartiya Janta Party forfeited Tamar seat for alliance partner AJSU party. Patar had resigned from the BJP and speculation was rife that the disgruntled MlA from Tamar will join a major political party until everything was put to rest after he filed nomination as an independent.

Meanwhile, bigwigs of the BJP are likely to file nominations today. The list of candidates from the saffron camp include former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda, BJP’s vice-president, Raghuvar Das, Saryu Rai and Menka Sardar. While Munda will file nomination from Kharsawan, Rai will submit nomination from Jamshedpur-West and Das will file nomination from Jamshedpur-East. Sardar will file nomination from Potka.

Nomination for 20 constituencies schedule to go for poll in third phase will end on November 14 and scrutiny will take place on 15 whereas last date for pulling out of the election is November 17.
