Rail line in East Central railway of CIC section of Dhanbad railway division at Rajhara railway station got fractured this morning, said railway sources. Prompt action by the ECR authorities here saved a passenger train.
Following this fracture of the Up line at Rajhara railway station a passenger train 53611 Up Barwadeeh Dehri On Sone was stopped for 45 minutes.
Sources said this passenger train had left Kajree railway station to reach this Rajhara railway station when the fracture was detected in the up line at Rajhara. Winter is the reason behind this fracture of the rail line here. This is the second fracture in five days’ time .
G P Hansda the station superintendent of Daltonganj railway station has confirmed the fracture of up line at Rajhara railway station.
Hansda has also confirmed that this passenger train was to pass through on this up line which was detected fractured. He added the passenger train was detained for forty five minutes.
A Patrol Man of railways had detected this fracture, who informed the Rajhara railway personnel and the passenger train was then detained near Kajree railway station.
The fractured part of the up line was temporarily secured to allow the passenger train to pass. Sources said thereafter a permanent replacement of the fractured track was done.
Had it remained un-detected, there would have been a different story then admitted Hansda.
When reminded that mercury is well above 6 degree celsius here these days and hence such a fracture is surprising since rail lines fracture in temperature between 3 degree to 2 degree celsius this railway official Hansada reiterated that the fracture was due to cold.
He ruled out any foul play.Sources said the rail lines in this section need to be properly monitored and taken care of.
