Tiger Group linked to Sao banned in State

The State Government has started tightening noose around ‘Jharkhand Tiger Group’ allegedly floated by Congress leader Yogender Sao. The outfit, which was in the eye of the storm during the recent Barkagaon disturbances, has been proscribed under Section-16 of ClA-1908 (Criminal law Amendment Act).

A Government communiqué released on Friday said the proposal of banning the ‘Jharkhand Tiger Group (Tiger Group) had been agreed upon. “The organisation has been declared proscribed since the time of its inception. Any membership of the organisation, collection of contribution in its name and publishing any material about its extremist policy, has also been declared illegal. There are allegations against the organisation to create disturbances in the area by challenging law and order there and to indulge into anti-national activities and violation of Government policies,” reads the order.

The group has been seen behind the last Saturday clash of villagers with the police that had resulted in firing and killing at least four people.

Top brass of officials, including DGP, IG (Special Branch) and Hazaribagh DC had also recommended banning the outfit. Sao, a few days after the bloody clash, was arrested by the police while his MlA wife is still traceless.
