In a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a Pickup van near Sawai more in Jamua block under the same police station here on Wednesday morning, three youth have died on the spot.
The incident occurred at around 8am when three youths identified as Majid, Mustakim and Islam were travelling on motorcycle and they were on its way to Giridih town which collided with a pickup van headed for Jamua near Sawai more in Giridih district on Wednesday, police sources said.
The motorcycle was severely damaged in the in the accident, which occurred early this morning.The driver and cleaner fled away from the accident site. However the Jamua police station impounded the van later booked a case against the driver for negligence driving.
The police, who were investigating the circumstances that led to the accident, said the fact that the absconding driver could be under the influence of alcohol could not be ruled out .Irate locals alleged that so many peoples died in similar accidents earlier on the same road, said Manaur Husain ,a JIP member. While others group of villagers blockade the Jamua-Giridih road there for more than five hours and they have demanded 5 lakh each for the diseased family members.
The road blocked would be lifted only after the intervention of block development officer of Jamua block and said ex-gratia payment of `10,000 each was handed over to the kin of the deceased persons.
