Two days after State DGP Rajeev Kumar received a threat SMS, the police are yet to catch hold of the real culprit who sent the message from his mobile phone warning him to stop the ongoing anti-Naxal operations immediately or he will kill him along with Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The police however, have detained three people in Jamshedpur for interrogation.
“The investigation is still on and we have detained three people -- Prabhash Mishra, Arun Agrawal and Ayush, in this connection for interrogation,” said Jamshedpur SSP Homkar Amol Venukant. Prabhash however, was later let off as he did not have any involvement in this case; except his name was used for purchasing the SIM card, added Venukant.
The message had been sent from mobile number 8407092840 following which the DGP ordered a probe into the matter. The mobile number was later located Sonari-Kadma in Jamshedpur, after which the police came into action and lifted three people for investigation.
The SSP said that the remaining two persons are venders through whom the SIM cards were purchased. Both are still being interrogated by the police officials. “We are making all efforts to make them recall the person who purchased the SIM card,” said the SSP.
Since the SIM card was purchased from Jamshedpur on the basis of a fake driving license in the name of one Prabhash Mishra who does not seem to have any involvement in the whole episode, the police are looking for a clue regarding the person actually behind the whole episode. “We are yet to trace that person who was actually behind the whole episode,” the SSP said. He however, refused to share any further development in the case.
Remarkably, the SIM card was used only three times that too for sending only threat messages since it was purchased on May 23, 2014. The third and the last SMS was sent to the DGP on Tuesday last. Before that Chakulia BDO was also sent a threat SMS on his mobile number – 9430379171 asking him to pay a levy of Rs 5 lakh. The first SMS however, was sent to one Manish Gupta of Jamshedpur on May 25, details of which is still awaited.
