'Those in alliance have lost credibility'

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) supremo Babulal Marandi on Sunday took a dig on political parties scrambling for alliance before Parliamentary elections going to be held in 2014 and termed such pre-poll alliances a manifestation of the fear of losing the battle in the coming elections. Marandi thus reaffirmed the party’s stand to contest elections alone.

“They cannot face public that is why they have forged an alliance. They are not sure on what grounds they will seek vote,” said Marandi. He also jeered at Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for evolving a seat sharing formula to contest the lok Sabha polls. “Both these parities were part of different alliance earlier. Now they have joined hands under a new formula,” Marandi quipped.

Marandi added that all parties have lost their credibility because of their preference for self development than the public which elected and reposed their faith in them. While attempting to lift party worker’s morale Marandi castigated all previous governments for resorting to unhindered plunder and defended his rein. The JVM chief accused the central government as well as its policies for the ongoing financial crisis in the State. “This is a result of the path we have taken in last couple of years. Even the central government which ruled the State is partly responsible for the present crisis,” said Marandi.

Marandi urged the party members assembled at the district working committee meeting to strengthen the party from grass-root to the top so as to take advantage of chinks in the opposition’s armour. “They have no courage to go to the public leave alone asking for votes. We will approach the people with courage,” said Marandi. Meanwhile, the district unit of JVM is gearing up for the battle of 2014 and has planned a series of programme in the capital to strengthen the party.
