What was the objective behind conceptualising and organising the award scheme ‘Jharkhand Outstanding contribution Awards’IJ
Jharkhand as a State is lagging behind most of the states in terms of development and its process is yet to start in real terms. But there are certain individuals, group of individuals and institutions who have immensely contributed to start and nourish the development process. Therefore, there was a need to recognise and appreciate those individuals, departments, schemes, NGOs, companies etc. who have relentlessly and honestly contributed to the development of the State in general and welfare of downtrodden and tribal population in particular. As any development could only be sustainable if it gives equal opportunities and benefits each and every segment specially the deprived people of the society or else it will lead to resentment and extremism.
What was the process to select the awardees in each categoryIJ
CNFC Media team through its Print & Radio partners Prabhat Khabar, The Pioneer & Radio Dhoom published advertisement and invited application in different categories. We also planned personal visits to probable participants in different districts, introduced award scheme and invited nominations. These completely filled nomination forms were evaluated by an expert panel of Evaluation Committee from IIM Ranchi, headed by the Director-Professor MJ Xavier, in a very transparent manner and unbiased approach. The management of CNFC Media and knowledge partner- IIM Ranchi were of clear opinion that the best among equals with honest intent, corruption free record and outstanding contribution or performance should only be awarded.
How has been the response to an award schemeIJ
Response has been overwhelming. More than 50 nominations were received in the very first year and Hon. Governor was kind enough to accept the invitation and felicitate the winners in the grand award ceremony organised on 10th June in hotel Radisson Blu in the presence of more than 200 dignitaries and guests. On this occasion Governor appreciated CNFC Media’s efforts and encouraged the participants to perform their best.
