A 30-year-old Kalicharan Kewat, died in police custody on Saturday night, a day before back two youth were nabbed first by local residents on Friday, while stealing ata government school and later handed over them to the the Balidih police.While one died in custody at Balidih police station. His relatives have accused cops of torturing him during interrogation.
Family sources said that the next day, on the morning of February 19, information was received that a youth of the accused of theft identified as Kalicharan Kewat had died. Soon after the information, the aunt and relatives of the deceased created a ruckus near the police station alleging death due to police beating.
According to the information received, Kalicharan Kewat and Sanjay Singh had entered in government school at night to steal the bulb. In this sequence, the local residents nabbed both of them and handed over to the police. Police took both the accused to Balidih police station.
It is said that one of the accused, Kalicharan Kewat, was admitted to Sadar Hospital in the night itself. Where he died during treatment. It is being told that the youth was assaulted in the police station, due to which the youth died.
Some people have told the local police responsible for the death due to suppressed tongue. Since people say that at the time when Kalichatan was handed over to the police, he was definitely drunk, but not in such a condition that he should die.
According to the information, seeing the uproar after the death of the youth, the police is pressurizing the father of the deceased to compromise. While the local residents, who gathered near the police station and demanded justification for him. After the incident, pressure is being given to compromise in various ways.
However, the aunt and other people of the deceased are giving the reason of death due to beating of the police. The relatives of the deceased also created a ruckus about the matter with the police station. The deceased used to work as a black mason, while Sanjay Singh was his helper.
In relation to the incident, under Inspector Rohit Kumar of Balidih police station said that both the youths were very drunk. After catching the accused was taken to the hospital in Jainamod.
From where he was referred to Sadar Hospital, where he died.
According to the SI, the accused was caught stealing in the village school. On getting the information, the police reached the spot and brought the accused to the police station. The family members were also upset with the accused.
Here, after the death of bulb thief Kalicharan, the local people blocked the NH located next to the police station. Locals have accused the police of murder. Residents told that the youth was mercilessly beaten up by the police. After this, he was rushed to the hospital where he died.
It is to be known that earlier, Balidih police has been accused of brutally beating a private teacher of Maktpur and his wife for theft within the limits of the police station. Despite this, another charge has started being made against the accused station in-charge.
