A 30 member team of a Jharkhand based theatre group, Yuva Rangmanch, will be enacting a play at the ongoing Ardha Kumbh Mahotsav in Prayagraj.
The team which is scheduled to enact the play on January 23 left Ranchi on Monday evening.
The spiritual play, titled Atmamanthan illustrates the three parts of the creation, organism, universe and the god itself. Director and concept writer of the play, Ajay Malkani said, "The play illustrates all the three parts of creation through acting, dance and music."
Malkani informed that their theatre group got an invite from the Uttar Pradesh Government to perform at Saraswati Manch, in sector 13 of the Kumbh Mahotsav.
“We were contacted by officials of UP Government to perform at the Mahotsav. This is a big opportunity for our team,” he said.
Malkani said that the troupe had performed at Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Ujjain in 2016 which might have lead to the UP government selecting them.
With the Kumbh Mahotsav witnessing lakhs of visitors, both Indian and international, the actors of the group are getting one of the grandest platforms possible in the country.
The opportunity to perform on such a huge platform will help boost the confidence of the actors and open doors for the future, Malkani said.
“This is a wonderful platform. People from across the globe can see our artists perform.
This is an exposure not just for our group but also our state. Once they perform here the artists will be more confident and excited about future endeavours,” he said.
An actor, Shankar Pathak said, “All of us are very excited. We couldn’t wait to perform in front of such a large and varied audience and get their reaction.”
As the crowd is expected to be huge, the actors, instead of reciting the dialogues on the spot, will lip sync.
“As the crowds is going to be huge, how much ever loud the actors are, their voices will not reach everybody.
To deal with this problem we have already recorded all the dialogues which we will play during the act,” Malkani said.
