Patnaik stressed on the roster clearance for the mentioned vacancies by May 31 and finalise the scrutiny process within a month. The discussions were held during a meeting with education representatives of all districts at Project Building today.

The HRD department has decided to develop five high schools of each district into model schools. “As part of Government’s plan to transform five schools into model schools in every district, the Education Officers today visited the Rajkiyakrit Middle School at Jagannathpur which is presently among the top model schools existing in the state. Schools with strength of over 500 students will be recommended for the model school project,” said Patnaik.

Also, the HRD Secretary announced to establish Science Center in all the 203 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and in all District Education Headquarters. “The officers have been given a deadline of 15 days to identify locations where the Science Centers could be set up,” pointed the Secretary.

Taking strict action over the negligence of teachers towards the biometric attendance machines in 300 Government schools, Patnaik said, “Many teachers in the Government schools are not punching attendance in the installed biometric machines. They claimed the machine is dysfunctional. I have asked all Government schools to repair such machines within three days of the damage else their salaries will be deducted on the days when they do not punch on the machine.”

“In special cases like medical leave their salaries will not be deducted,” she added. An Education Officer from Jamtara informed that schools in Ranchi, Gumla and Jamtara have recorded 100 percent attendance of teachers ever since the installation of biometric attendance machine.

Besides, the mentioned issues, Patnaik focused on the problems of teachers reported in the first ever Shikshak Samvad on May 16. “Teachers will now get their pending salary dues by the date of their retirement. Moreover, we have told all school authorities to obtain the two months advance money for Mid Day Meal and other miscellaneous expenses. It will solve the lack of basic facilities dealt in the schools on daily basis like unavailability of rice or eggs,” the HRD Secretary said.
