Around 60,000 candidates of the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) who sailed through, will have to wait longer for their qualification certificates. As of now, the wait has no deadline. The result of this first ever TET held in the State was declared on May 28.
Sources at Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) informed that it might take over a month to process the certificates of the candidates who had passed this teaching entrance exam. The reason behind this delay is said to be the allegations made by 1,000 odd candidates on May 29 relating to improper evaluation processes in both levels of TET, one comprising Class 1 to 5 and another from Class 6 to 8.
Dictating a complicated excuse, JAC Secretary Sushil Kumar Roy said, “We are yet to take any decision over this matter. A meeting on dispatching the mark certificates from JAC headquarter will be held within a day or two after which we would be able to give an accurate answer over this matter.” It is to be noted the passing marks for general candidates was 90 and 78 for the reserved candidates out of the total 150 marks.
“When the notification for this exam was announced, it was clearly mentioned that the mark certificate would be declared within a month. The result was also notified to be published by May 15. When the result was delayed, the late issuing of mark certificates is no where justified. Jharkhand is undergoing teacher shortage at primary and high schools. JAC must ensure fast track step on our TET future, at least for the sake of the schools which need teachers,” said lalpur based Sudeepta Pradhan who secured around 73 percent.
Priya Raha, a Morhabadi resident who passed this exam with 70 percent said, “In Jharkhand, prolonged undecided initiative after any exam result declaration is a common phenomenon. So, I am hopeless about my future.”
