A 15-year-old who had stolen Rs 40,000 from his father and denied it, hanged himself in Bokaro on Tuesday.

"We found Arvind hanging from a ceiling fan in his house. A suicide note was also found, in which Arvind confessed he had stolen his father's ATM card and made a withdrawal of Rs 40,000," a police official said. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

According to the father, Kali Soren, he complained at the bank when he found out about the withdrawal. The manager promised CCTV footage, suspecting a family member to be involved. Soren asked his family to admit any involvement but when none was forthcoming, he mentioned the CCTV footage.

Fearing the moment he would get caught, the frightened class IX student took his life. In another incident, a girl hanged herself at Sector 8 after failing her class XII exams twice. The disheartened 18-year-old chose a moment when her father was at work, and her mother out on the balcony, to lock herself into her room and end her life.
