Team Ratan Modi won the executive committee election of the Federation of the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce & Industries today by 16-5. The elections were conducted on Sunday at Marwari Bhawan in Ranchi and the results were declared Monday late evening.

During the counting it was declared that there were 1842 votes polled on Sunday out of which 55 votes were found invalid. The total number of valid votes then came to 1787, according to which 16 members of team Ratan Modi were decided winners alongwith five members of Team Pawan Bajaj.

After the declaration of results Modi, thanking FJCCI members for giving him a thumping majority in these elections, said that he considered himself a simple worker who contested the elections after taking a leave of one year from his family only to work in the interest of the traders and society as a whole. “Since one year is not enough for anybody to do what he wants to do….the advantage of being from a continuity team is that you get an opportunity to complete the works done by the previous team….and I am here to do the same,” said the president designate of FJCCI Ratan Modi. Modi thanked all who extended their support to his team.

Pawan Bajaj, leader of the opposite team, however, has demanded manual tabulation of the results declared on Sunday. “If the voting was done manually, why counting was not done manuallyIJ At least tabulation must be done manually in order to ensure free and fair elections,” Bajaj was quoted as saying.

Bajaj also raised questions over the manner in which the elections trends were leaked despite the counting being done inside the hall where no one was allowed accept the polling officials.

According to the Team Bajaj, some absurdity was also identified in the programming of the system leading to the delay in the counting of votes by one day. They had demanded that in the given circumstances tabulation must have been done manually in order to remove doubts of the members. Both Modi and Bajaj teams had 21 contestants from each side while Anand Jalan was contesting the elections as an Independent contestant.
