Members of the Jharkhand State Primary Teachers Association, in a meeting on Sunday decided that they would block the academics in primary schools if their demands were not met.
They have decided to go on a week’s strike starting from May 4 till May11 to pressurise the Government to meet their demands. The teachers’ association had been demanding that the retirement age for the Government teachers should be raised to 65 years.
They have also been demanding to increase their pay-scale, free them from civil construction works and also not bring primary education in the State under the purview of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
