There is a degree college in Manika under the Latehar district where deadly snakes and monitor lizards roam around. It was revealed by the professor in charge of the Manika degree college Bimal Kumar Singh when there was the inspection of this college on Friday by the academic advisor E Balagurusamy to the Governor cum Chancellor C P Radhakrishnan and Sanjiv Rai OSD in the Raj Bhavan.
The professor in charge said, "Deadly snakes like russell viper come to the class room. This snake once came to Sociology class. It was sheer luck that it caused no harm."
Monitor lizard is another reptile that loves coming over to this college. It's the students here who skip coming over here said the inspecting academic advisor Balagurusamy.
The academic advisor said, "The college is in the most pitiable condition. It's pathetic to note that 7 teachers and 7 support staff run this degree college which has 2,000 students. Seventy percent of the students are girls. A large number of girls are tribal."
"Is this the way to shape the future of the poor students here? Forget about skill development here. Just think about what quality teaching is here when we have 7 teachers only in the degree college." said Balagurusamy.
Acting VC NPU T K Shandilya said the NPU is to have need based teachers here and in other government colleges where there is the colossal deficiency of teachers.
