Tata Power has been undertaking several initiatives for the welfare and well-being of its employees and communities living in an around its areas of operation. In line with this philosophy, Tata Power’s Maithon Power limited (MPl), the company’s 74:26 joint venture with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), has started daily safety motivational trainings for its HYVA drivers and helpers.

The objective of this initiative is to train the drivers and helpers about several occupational safety and health standards that will help in bringing about a behavioural change among them and prevent roads accidents and other health hazards. The initiative is undertaken in partnership with Aakar, an NGO organisation with technical knowhow and expertise in implementation of Community development program and holistic development of the community. The training entailed pictures and short movies on safety for drivers & helpers, in addition to an interactive session.

Speaking on the initiative, K Chandrashekhar, CEO - Maithon Power ltd said, “We, at Tata Power, firmly believe in giving safety an utmost priority. Many of the drivers who lacked adequate knowledge about the safety standards at work will now benefit immensely from these training sessions. We will continue to organise such initiatives that contribute to developing lives”.

To encourage fitness, the program also includes displaying the ‘Best Driver’ photos at the HYVA registration point. This motivates drivers and helpers to put in efforts that will match the fitness parameters. The selection is done based on the activities organised by AAKAR on daily basis.
