Tata Power through Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) organised Remedial Centres in Tiruldih to offer remedial classes for the students of Tiruldih and Chaura villages. TPCDT has partnered with Nalanda, a NGO working in the rural education sector for this initiative. The program has given boosts to the students and increased the enrolment status to approximately 80 per cent.
The Remedial Class offered by TPCDT along with Nalanda is primarily aimed to address the need of creating a successful student rather than a student who is successful only in his end term examinations.
Currently, the Remedial Centre will provide guidance to students of 10th standard in three subjects by specialist teachers. The Remedial Centre will be offering guidance to 64 students in Tiruldih High School and 79 students in Chaura high school who have enrolled at the Remedial Centres. The progress of the students has been satisfying with the students posting satisfying results with the marks of the weekly tests increasing by 25-30 % on a weekly basis.
Speaking on the initiative, Asim Thakurta, chief-corporate projects, said, “We at Tata Power have always been committed in improving the educational standards for the students in our operational areas. The Remedial Centres at Tiruldih and Chaura villages will reinforce our commitment in helping the students in improving their knowledge base apart from their regular curriculum.”
