Tata Power Tiruldih project’s Community Development Trust (TPCDT), in partnership with Rah Society, a NGO working in the rural education sector, helped in improving the Service Delivery system of the existing Anganwadi Centres near Chars, Kuda, and Tiruldih village.

The objective of the initiative is to create a conducive pre-school environment where the kids are provided with the basic learning before being introduced to formal schooling. One of the key inclusions of this program is the provision of a doctor and a lady dietician for regular health check-up, twice in a six month. This initiative also aims at assessing the current status of the children’s health and identify the kids suffering from malnutrition so that the measures to improvise the situation can be implemented. The programme has helped in boosting the attendance of the Anganwadi kids to approximately 30 per cent in the first month itself.

Speaking on this initiative, Asim Thakurta, Tata Power chief - corporate projects, said, “Children must be taught and moulded on how to think so that they could achieve excellence in every sphere of their life by building a strong educational foundation. I assure that we will always work towards initiating such innovative projects for the betterment and upliftment of the society on an everyday basis.”

Under this initiative, the lady facilitators interact with the kids to hone their aptitude and attitude. All the facilitators involved in this program have been trained on child pedagogy for the smooth functioning and implementation of the initiaitve. Through this initiative, joyful and learning opportunities are provided to children for better cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
