Tata Power extends Islanding System to Haldia

Published on:

Tata Power after successfully implementing its ‘Islanding System’ in Jamshedpur to protect customers and equipping them with reliable, uninterrupted power, has now extended this innovative concept to the city of Haldia as recent grid failures in recent past have created severe consequences.

The objective of this initiative is to maintain a continuous supply of electricity to the loads in Haldia during a grid failure. Following this implementation, the Tata Power generating units will survive and quick restoration of the grid will be possible by procuring start-up power from the generators. The Islanding System is the core of reliable power supply to any city which assures an uninterrupted source of power. In case of breakdowns in the grid, the Islanding System automatically isolates itself from the rest of the grid and ensures that generating units continue to function.

Speaking about this initiative, Abhijit Ain Das, chief, Haldia Station said, “Tata Power is committed to lighting up the lives of its consumers and the Islanding System is another such initiative to ensure customer satisfaction. The system will help us in saving our units during grid disturbance by isolating our units along with a matching load. This will in turn help us to reduce forced outages and help restore the grid after a failure”.
