Tata Power’s Maithon Power limited (MPl), the company’s 74:26 joint venture with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), announced the dispatch of the first rake of fly ash through railway rakes, leading to the grand total of 2125 tonnes of fly ash being dispatched from Radhanagar.
The objective of the initiative is the efficient management of fly ash around the plant. The fly ash from the company’s main silo 4 was packed in bags through the manual ash bagging system, designed-cum-fabricated in-house, transported to the siding in lorry, and dispatched to the cement manufacturing unit in Assam through rail mode. Encouraged by the outcome, MPl is now planning to go for automation of the bagging system.
Speaking on the occasion, K Chandrashekhar, CEO, Maithon Power ltd. said, “It is evident yet again from our latest venture that Tata Power remains committed to sustainability. Our strategic utilisation of generated waste is a testament to optimum utilisation of waste materials while adhering to the MoEF norms and regulations on fly ash. We, at Tata Power, believe in practicing environment friendly lifestyle ensuring judicious use of natural resources while also looking forward to 100 per cent fly ash utilisation”.
