Task force on toes to curb illegal mining in Palamu

From mines to road the mining task force is to be vigilant day and night. Chief minister Hemant Soren has asked the district administration to crack down against illegal mining.

In Palamu it's stone and sand that are mined most. A pahar is the most vulnerable thing here. It is broken for stones. And when stones are broken, it is crushed to become stone chips and stone dust.

Head of the Sadar  sub divisional task force for mining Sulochana Meena said, "If vicious mining is to be taken into account, then it is of sand. Stone quarrying comes second."

"We are determined to lock it, curb it. There is no compromise with it. Our entire fleet of 16 circle officers are determined to put a stop to illegal stone and sand mining," she added.

Meena said, "Sadar sub division has 14 circles. The COs rush at night without bothering about what is in store for them."

Mining in areas exceeding the limit as notified is the most common for the illegality added Sulochana Meena.

If there is trespassing of the land then the overhead mined produce is also illegal.

Meena said we are going for mapping for mining areas to find out if it is within the prescribed limit or has over topped the land.

Villagers cry foul when mining operations are done on the land which is in excess of  their limit or boundary.
