Country’s largest and tallest Tricolour is likely to get reinstated again at the flag post on Pahari Temple before this Independence Day. The Tricolour was brought down on April 28 after being stuck there for around 10 days by a team of 35 labourers.
“After successfully replacing the winch on the top, we are making all efforts to hoist the highest tricolour by August 15 so that people of Ranchi do not have to get disappointed,” said PRO of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti Mukesh Agrawal. Other technical loopholes have also been removed to pave way for successful unfurling of flag on this Independence Day, added Agrawal.
Dismantling of derrick was consuming much time but it will be managed somehow and the flag will be unfurled, said another official of Pahari Mandir Viksas Samiti.
“Out of a total height of 300 feet, 40 feet of the derrick has already been dismantled. Since there is ample time left with us…….we will be able to unfurl the largest tricolor easily by August 15,” said Treasurer of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti Hari Jalan.
If all goes well, the highest tricolour in Ranchi may also find a place in limca Book of Records too and the reason would be for the ‘largest and tallest’ ever Indian Tricolour on the earth was set up by Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti.
“Moving a step further, we are going to claim a place for this tricolour in limca Book of Records…We have fulfilled all requirements for same and have also verified the height by measuring the flag post again from the foundation,” said Jalan. The proposal for the same will be sent very soon, he said.
Remarkably, on April 17, when a new flag was being hoisted through a motorised pulley system, the rope got dislocated from its pulley and the flag was stuck in between. Incidentally, it was stuck at almost two-thirds height of the flag post, giving
an impression of flying at ‘half mast’.
The temple committee engaged a team of engineers and tried several options but could not succeed to bring the flag down. It also sought Army’s help but all in vain as the Army expressed its inability to provide choppers immediately. Samiti members then opted for handing over the task to a real estate firm which committed to bring it down by raising a derrick around the flag post.
The entire task was monitored by engineers of Mecon India limited.
