Swachh Bharat Mission is to cover Government recognised madarsas. Under this initiative two toilets are to be given to madarsa Ehsanul Uloom in Daltonganj, said Sadar SDO Nancy Sahay. She said the madarsas people have been asked to take initiative in this direction.
The JAC affiliated madarsa was with just one toilet for 65 enrolled students. The SDO asserting this to problem said that another toilet would be given under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
“A functionary of the madrasa just came to meet me with the copy of the proceedings of a meeting and urged me to put my signature on it to which I objected most strongly asking him as to how they conducted a meeting without my presence or participation to which the functionary told me that this has been the practice over the last many years when copy of proceedings is just placed before the SDO for signature as SDOs do not participate in such meeting of madrasa’. She admitted this version of the functionary of this madrasa was definitely not untrue.”
She said, “I proved them wrong and inspected the madrasa only to find things in an extremely good manner and way like clean classes, teachers taking classes and a sound environment for learning and teaching there.” She said this madrasa requires benches & desks as students are to sit on the pucca floor.
Madarsas are not so keen to have government freebie like uniform as girls are to wear blouse and skirt and madrasa girls have their own reservations about it she said, “Once I told them to pray for uniform the madrasa people gladly grabbed this offer assuring me that their girls will wear salwar kameez in place of blouse and skirt and uniform does come in the shape of salwar and kameez too.”
