After being placed in bottom in the ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan’ conducted across the country in 2015 under the flagship programme of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) will put all its effort yet again to get the coveted tag of clean city. ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan’ will commence from January 4, the one month long survey will end on February 4.

A workshop to make stakeholders aware about the concept of ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan’ was conducted here on Wednesday depicting the status of the Capital City at present. All the ward councilors and RMC board members were present in the meeting and discussed about various facets of this ambitious project.

This year, approximately 500 Municipal Corporations from across India will compete for the coveted position. With the objective to transform the State Capital and to inculcate the habit of cleanliness among the denizens, the civic body has planned various activities to achieve the set target. Earlier too, officials have mentioned that their aim is to be in top 25 Municipal Corporations by fulfilling all criteria under ‘Swacchta Sarvekshan’ 2017.

The civic body has issued a Swacchta Sarvekshan 2017 Guideline, Swacchta Sarvekshan 2017 self-assessment tool, Swacchta App to monitor and supervise the workers including Swacch Residence Welfare Association concept earlier this year. The Swacchta Sarvekshan 2017 survey will be done by the private agencies, recruited by Quality Council of India (QCI). Public opinions on various segments of sanitation will be one important aspect of the survey.

“The assessment will be done out of 2000 points. Under the three important sub sections, the project has been drafted out. For urban local body (UlB) 900 points are set whereas 600 points will be given after receiving the feedback for public while 500 is for direct observers who will monitor the procedure and keep a track of work progress,” said, RMC, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Bidyanand Sharma Pankaj.
