A suspected Naxal of the CPI (Maoist) is learnt to have died in a landmine explosion at Gotag locality in the Bulbul forest area under Peshrar police station of Lohardaga district. It is learnt that the said naxal was a member of the armed squad led by Chhotu Kherwar. He died on Monday while planting landmines to cause damage to security forces.

The security forces have found blood spots leading to believe that a rebel might have died. Notably, over 400 security personnel of the CRPF are carrying out anti-naxal operations in the forest area of Bulbul where heavy gunfire between security forces and CPI (Maoist) was also reported on Sunday.

Security forces have intelligence inputs that the armed squad dreaded Naxal Rabindra Gonjhu is moving in the forest area.

Security forces have intensified the operation and are carefully inching forward in the forest area where Maoists have carpeted forest areas with landmines.

Security forces also destroyed a bunker of Maoist which was used as a hideout and to manufacture landmines.

However, the security forces have suffered injuries during the operation.  On Saturday a CRPF jawan from the 209th CoBRA battalion was injured who was flown to Ranchi and admitted to Medica where his condition is stable.

This incident took place after security forces busted a bunker of CPI (Maoist) which was used as a hideout as well as to manufacture explosives.

On Friday two jawans of the CRPF Dilip Kumar and Narayan Das were injured in the blast. They were flown to Medica hospital in Ranchi where they are undergoing treatment. However, Dilip lost his leg where another jawan suffered injuries on his waist. The CRPD team was returning after the operation at Bishunpur in Gumla district when the explosion took place in the morning. Narayan Das is a native of Odisha whereas Dilip is a native of Jammu.
