After setting new milestones in Bihar, the Super 30 founder, Anand Kumar, who helps underprivileged students crack the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for entrance into IITs, has now decided to set up a school in Jamshedpur. The best part of the school will be that it will start grooming students for cracking IIT from Class VI itself.
Patna-based Mathematician, who has so far in 15 years helped 396 out of 450 students from economically weaker sections successfully crack IIT entrance examinations, shared his vision for the State with the media at Nirmal Guest House.
“I have a special connection to the city as my relatives from the maternal side live here. I look forward to visiting the city every year. Moreover, out of the 30 students who succeed every year in the Super 30 there are always 2-3 students from Jharkhand and I have a desire to open a school in Jamshedpur. If the Government provides me land (around 20 acres), I can arrange funds from my own for the project. But acquiring land is a problem and I would like the Government to help in this,” said Anand Kumar.
“I would like to request the Government through the media and also through the East Singhbhum district education officer RKP Singh for my dream project. The school would focus on mathematics and science subjects from base level,” said Anand Kumar.
From this year October-November the Super 30 will also be starting online coaching. Through online coaching the idea is to provide guidance to aspiring engineers spread across the country.
Kumar added the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is lending its support to the online initiative.
Kumar informed that along with Super 30 they are also starting a separate programme called ‘Super 100’ in which students who have passed Class X are eligible to participate.
“We are inviting students to appear for test for qualifying into Super 30 in Jamshedpur. There will be test in two levels at Sakchi High School in Sakchi on June 24. For basic level the eligibility criteria would be matriculation pass while for advanced level the criteria would be Class XII pass,” said Anand.
The intake capacity for basic level would be 100 while it would be 30 for advanced level. After selection they would be entitled for free studies, accommodation and lodging facilities at Patna.
He also informed a biopic will be shot later this year with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan playing his character. The film would be directed by Vikash Bahl.
