M/s Sunil Industries ltd, which participated in the tender floated to select a firm to supply linens under Sona-Sobaran dhoti-saree-lungi scheme has said that it had not been blacklisted by any Government/semi-Government organisation, during the issuance of tender by the department of food, public distribution and consumer affairs of Jharkhand for making available dhoti, saree and lungi to the families of below poverty line families in the State of Jharkhand.
The company, in its response to The Pioneer’s report “Tender clause tweaked to allow debarred firm”, published in Ranchi edition on January 13, 2015 has said that the debarment was only for the period of March 16, 2012 to March 15, 2013 for a single product i.e. supply of polyester linen cloth only, to the Ordinance Clothing factory, Shahjahanpur. “After the expiry of the said period the same Ordnance factory again placed an order for the same store i.e. polyester lining black,” it has said.
“Moreover, supply of a particular product was debarred for a particular period but not permanently,” the company has said, dubbing the report “false and baseless”. Our Correspondent replies: The news report based on the relevant documents said that one of the participants of the tender process, M/s Sunil Industries ltd, had been debarred for the period of one year by the Ordinance Clothing Factory (OCF), Shahjahanpur in 2012. The report has nowhere said that the firm had been debarred permanently by any Government /Semi Government organisation.
It has never been our intention to defame the said organisation. The term ‘debarred’ in the heading ‘Tender clause tweaked to allow debarred firm’ might have given some wrong impression, which we regret. In fact, the report simply raised questions over the intention of the Government to tweak certain clauses in the tender documents. We tried hard to get the department (as mentioned in the report) enlighten the readers as to why it did so, but failed.
