The State capital woke up to a cloudy, wet and chilly morning on Monday. Trace rainfall has nip in the temperature and according to the MeT officers Jharkhand is likely to experience a bit more chilly weather in the coming days.

The weather department attributes the rainfall due to upper air cyclonic circulation which lies over North Odisha and its adjoining areas and is extending upto 1.5 km above the sea level.

A senior Meteorologist at Patna Meteorology Department BM Choudhary said, “Isolated areas may see trace rainfall within 24 hours. The sky will get clear from Tuesday morning resulting in a dip in temperature by three degree Celsius.”

The minimum temperature recorded here is 8.8 degree Celsius once the sky gets clear the mercury is expected to nip around 5.8 degree Celsius. “It is expected that the chilling weather will not last for long time within a week the temperature will again hover around 13.8 degree Celsius,” said Choudhary. Ranchi has received 3.4mm rainfall so far. Apart from State capital Jamshedpur and Daltonganj has also witnessed a brief and a very little spell of rain.

“It is forecast that on Monday night the state capital and its adjoining areas may experience cold breeze with few little shower. While in Jamshedpur and Daltonganj the sky will start getting clearly,” said Choudhary.

The sudden change in weather has caught the people off guard with rain causing drop in temperature. A businessman Ramesh Majumdar said, “The sudden rain has increased the cold in the state capital overnight. Even my leather jacket is failing to keep me warm in this weather.”

“Due to unexpected rain I have to bring out extra woolens from the wardrobe. Yesterday I went to Khadi mela but the sudden spell of rain spoiled my shopping plans and had to run for cove,” said Manish a Ratu Road resident.
