The students of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) continue to achieve milestones and make their alma-mater proud. Indebted to their institution, the students believe whatever they are today is because of the education they received at BIT.
For 60-year old Umesh Prasad Singh pursuing research in BIT after superannuation has given him confidence to talk about his innovation at any platform. Singh, who retired in 2013 from Central Coalfields limited, has created a “coal bio-reactor” which he claims to be unique and has applied for patent in India.
“I have been conveyed by authorities that the patent process will be completed in 2013,” said Singh adding “Hopefully I will be issued patent in this year.”
Education enables one to live his dream and contribute to the larger dream of his institution- serving the society. Kapil Sharma, Gold Medalist, BE Electronics & Communication, believes that serving country is better than serving a private organisation.
“The work culture in private enterprises does not serve the interest of the country so I have decided to work in the government sector where my contribution would be for my country,” said Sharma. He quit a plum job in an IT company last year.
Happiness new no bound for parents of Samridhi Verma who received gold medal on the convocation day. Verma, a gold medallist in Master in Pharmacy, is also a recipient of INSPIRE
fellowship bestowed by Department of Science & Technology for doctoral studies in Science.
However, sometimes a dream is guided by what one carries in his genes. Aditya Vishnu, a graduate in Engineering from BIT quit his job in an IT company and joined a Non-government Organisation Teach For India finally deciding to live the dreams of his parents, joining Indian Administrative Services.
Vishnu, son of former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, AK Singh confided that bureaucracy is in his genes as both his maternal and paternal grandfather were also bureaucrat.
