Students from Angel’s High School, Hazaribag, had eagerly awaited to witness Assembly proceedings, but they returned home disappointed as the lawmakers of the State failed to perform upto their expectations. As many as 19 students from a private school—Angel’s High School on Wednesday reached the Assembly to witness the House proceedings.
They were eager to know about House proceedings of Question Hour, Zero Hour, tabling of bill, role of Speaker, Leader of House, Leader of Opposition and other lawmaker, but their hopes were washed away as not a single question was raised in the question hour or zero hour.
Majority of students from Class XI of the institution were seated in the audience gallery of the House. The students along with institution director Nisha Jaiswal and other teachers had come all the way from Hazaribag—100 km from State Capital to witness House proceedings. Class XI student of institution, Sakshi Jain said, “We had come to witness how assembly functions. What type of questions is raised in the Question Hour, Zero Hour and the Government’s reply on such queries? But, it was big disappointment for us as the entire morning proceeding wasted out on single demand of JMM lawmakers.”
Echoing the views of Jain, Priyanka another student of institution said, “We were excited to visit Assembly, but had the House function smoothly our excitement would have been much bigger.” Nisha Jaiswal, the Director of the institution and wife of BJP lawmaker from Hazaribag, Manish Jaiswal said: “Assembly is temple of democracy where public issue are raised by members and it is expected from Government that they provide a satisfactory reply on all issue raised in the House, but it was unexpected that not a single question were raised today.”
As the JMM lawmakers were staging a demand seeking government’s stand on proposed amendments to the Indian Forests Act, 1927, the Speaker was trying to maintain the decorum of the House even gave the reference of students sitting at audience gallery witnessing the proceedings. Speaker Dinesh Oroan said, “The JMM MLAs who are disrupting the House should at least consider students sitting in the audience gallery witnessing the proceedings. The students will have bad experience from disruption of proceedings.”
