The second day of XlRI Jamshedpur’s Ensemble 2016 set the bar higher and saw students compete across various management and leadership events.
Apollo, the HR Domain event, conducted its first round today, which was keenly contested by participants from various institutes. Poseidon, the BM domain event, concluded its final round today. Other events such as War of Wits (the Flagship HR event), Strike or Yield (the Flagship IR event) and Helios (the Flagship Operations event) also declared their winners. Genesis, the Flagship entrepreneurship event also kicked off on Saturday.
Under the future leadership program, there was a record turnout of students of schools and undergrad colleges of Jamshedpur who conducted fun activities and attended multiple sessions for their overall grooming as future leaders of the nation. Other fun and engaging events like the Snakes and ladder, Wheel of Fortune, lAN gaming, and the very famous Ensemble Wall. kept people busy throughout.
The second round of the India’s biggest leadership event, The Next Gen leader saw some fierce competition from the very top b-schools like IIM-C, IIM-l, IIM – A, MDI and XlRI. Day 2 also saw Advocatus Diaboli, the premiere debating event kick-off with a lot of enthusiasm among the students, the event saw last year’s winner Nikhil Iyer, and the student affairs counsel’s general secretary Akshay Ratan as the winners. The Toastmasters Club of XlRI, in association with Ensemble, also launched the first ever ‘Table Topics Master’ – an event which challenged students to just walk in and deliver an impromptu speech!
Yet again, the highlight of the day was the Idea Summit that saw Dr Seema Rao and famed Supreme Court lawyer Ramakant Gaur take the stage. Dr Rao is India's First Woman Commando Trainer. She has trained over 15,000 commandos as well as the Anti-Terror squads of most states in India! She was accompanied by Dr Simi, a corporate with HUl and an alumnus of XlRI.
Ramakant Gaur’s areas of expertise include Anti-Money laundering laws, Cyber Crimes, handling complex litigations of Economic, Corporate and Real Estate disputes.
Both the speakers enthralled the audience with their success stories and upheld the idea behind Ensemble 2016, i.e., Be The Business – to be the best at what you do.
XlANC, the adventure club, hosted the ever-popular Mech Bull. It saw students attempt to tame a mechanical bull, as it bounced, jumped and moved around. DRACUlA – the Dramatics and Cultural Association at XlRI also hosted the ‘Be the Quizness’ – the business quiz, with Deepanjan Deb, the well-known quizmaster, as the host.
The act of the evening was Comedy Nights with Sorabh Pant, the stand-up comedy star from East India Comedy, who had the audience in splits with his brand of contemporary comedy readily accepted up by the young, energetic crowd. The college campus was abuzz with the pro night talks the whole day and is excited about the final day’s pro night where lucky Ali will be performing.
