With just few days left for the announcement of Jharkhand Teacher Test (TET) results State students are hoping to crack this exam and also debating on the merit selection criteria of first division academic record in matriculation, intermediate, graduation and BEd.
Governor Syed Ahmed would be unveiling the result on May 28.The first ever TET of this State was conducted on April 26 by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on April 26. According to sources, as many as 1.82 lakhs had appeared for this entrance exam wherein teachers for primary and secondary teachers would be recruited. Result will be available on JAC’s website.
Sudipta Pradhan, a B. Ed passout from Ranchi College who appeared for this exam said, “This teacher recruitment option on good academic record along with TET score will definitely give chance for a deserving candidate to prove his or her teaching skills.”
“I am anxious to know the result because it will be added bonus for my career,” said Mayuree Kiran, a Sanskrit teacher in DAV International School. It is to be noticed merit criteria is mentioned in other states like West Bengal and Assam as well. The qualifying mark for general candidates is 60 percent and for reserved quota candidates it is 52 percent.
On the other hand, keeping the poor performance of the state board in the past years few local aspirants for this exam had requested the state government to select candidates only on the basis of their TET scores when the applications for this entrance exam were being filled.
Jharkhand Chatra Sangh leader S Ali said, “In 2011, we had approached the High Court for conducting TET in our state. It was then the government took action over our request.”
“But the clause to select on first division scores from matriculation to B.ed qualification as merit criteria is not justified since majority of the students hailing from Jharkhand pass exams with second division. In such situation, students outside the state will get preference instead of the native students. We had requested Governor, his advisor K Vijay Kumar and Primary Education Director to consider on this matter,” added Ali.
Ali also said, “If this matter is not considered, then we will protest and if situation demands we may knock the doors of Court.” Attempts to contact Primary Education Director Mamta failed.
