The police on Saturday arrested a school girl and a staff for illegally withdrawing money from the account of a government school.

Jyoti Kumari, an 18-year-old girl studying in class 10 of Upgraded High School, Tatidiri, wrongly linked her Aadhar number and bank account with the account of school’s development fund with the help of communication service provider (CSP) at the school Danish Ahmed and managed to transfer an amount of Rs 6.47 lakh to her bank account.

The two were sent to judicial custody on Sunday.

The matter came to light when on Saturday the headmaster of the school and other members of school management committee came across the empty account of the development fund and lodged a complaint with the Dhurki police station.

On investigation, the police found that the aadhaar card of the student Jyoti Kumari was wrongly linked to the school's development fund account and she had colluded with CSP Danish Ahmad, withdrawing the entire amount in the school’s fund.

On being interrogated, Jyoti confessed to the police following which the police recovered a withdrawn amount of Rs  3.87 lakh from the house of Jyoti’s elder sister at Dandai.

"With the arrest of the two accused, our team managed to solve the case within two hours and recovered Rs 3.87 lakh which was withdrawn from the total of Rs 6.47 lakh," said Banshidhar Nagar SDPO, Neeraj Kumar.

"Instead of withdrawing all the money at once, the accused acted smart and withdrew money in bits so as to not create suspicion. They had withdrawn money 90 times since last March to May this year," said SDPO.
