Newly appointed Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) for Ranchi Sadar, Aditya Anand, assumed charge of office on Tuesday. looking after 14 blocks in the sub-division, problems in implementation of Food Security Act and challenges in maintaining law and order will be the first to receive his attention, Anand assured, during a telephonic interview with The Pioneer.
Q. What are your plansIJ Have you come up with some strategiesIJ
A. It is too early to comment on a plan of action. As of now, I am looking into the issues persisting in Ranchi, the measures to be taken for solving them will be determined after thoroughly scrutinising them.
Q. What will be your areas of focusIJ
A. Being the capital city, law and order is a major concern in Ranchi and will be attended to with utmost attention. Also, the Food Security Act is facing some hiccups regarding its implementation here; they will be sorted out soon. Additionally, focus will be on cases of land disputes, numbers of which have skyrocketed.
I will also ensure that the recent project of hoisting the biggest Tricolour on Pahari Mandir goes on smoothly.
Q. Talking about Food Security Act (FSA), reports of widespread wrongdoings have been associated with it since its inception. What steps will you take to put an end to these discrepanciesIJ
A. Complaints regarding irregularities in distribution of ration cards have been registered since the scheme was rolled out. Given the fact that public distribution system is a significant part of public welfare services, all shortcomings related to FSA will be done away with.
Q. What are your plans for maintaining law and orderIJ How will you coordinate with law enforcement agenciesIJ
A. For now, the weak points in the Sub Division with respect to law and order are being identified. Following this, based on the areas classified as critical and problems specific to them, action plans will be formulated and district police will be brought in the loop.
