With a nine- point charter of demands in the interest of tribals, the CPI(M) unit here in association with the Adivasi Dalit Vikas Samiti, Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch and DYFI, organised the third State-level tribal conclave at Chandragiri Hatapada of Mohana block here on Tuesday.
Earlier, a procession led by Adivasi Dalit Vikas Samiti secretary Dandapani Raita was taken out from the Revenue inspector office. The CPI (M) members alleged that the State Government had been apathetic to the unfair practices perpetrated against the tribals.
“Though a number of schemes have been framed for educational and health development in the tribal areas, but they have failed to bring any perceptible change in their lives. large scale corruptions have been made in providing land patta to the tribals, while the genuine beneficiaries are deprived of getting the benefit,” said a CPI (M) member.
Among others, former MP and joint convener of the Adivasi Mahasabha M Baburao, Mahasabha State secretary Sal Marandi, Adivasi Mahasabha State committee member Salim Minji, CPI (M) State secretary board members, including Jagannath Mishra, Ali Kishore Patnaik and Kailash Sadangi, attended the conclave.
On the other hand, the villagers of Chandragiri along with trade and youth associations called a Bazaar Bandh protesting against the conclave. They alleged that disturbances were being created in the name of providing land patta.
