The agitation of the so-called displaced of NTPC coal projects going on at different sites of Barkagaon and Keredari blocks under the leadership of MlA Nirmala Devi turned violent when the agitators started beating the contractors and workers at village Dhenga where construction work of displaced’s colony is going on. The claim of protest in Gandhi’s non-violence style thus came to its end just within two weeks.
The agitators not only beat the contractors and workers but also manhandled the NTPC officials. They kept a contractor Md Shabir hostage for hours. When police team reached there under the leadership of DSP Hl Ravi, the situation came under control. An FIR has been lodged in Barkagaon PS by contractor Kavindra Kumar Singh.
