A Special Task Force (STF) meeting on filariasis was conducted on November 27 at IPH Namkum. Under the National Health policy, it was decided that Jharkhand will combat the disease by the end of the year 2015. As many as 14 districts of Jharkhand is affected by filariasis which includes Ranchi, Khunti, Bokaro, Garhwa, Godda, Deoghar, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Chatra, Dhanbad, Giridih, Sahibganj, lohardaga and Dumka.
To eradicate filariasis mass drug administration programme will be organised in all the 14 districts from December 14 to 20.
