All hopes of the Congress to placate rebel leader from Santhal, Stephen Marandi, ended on Thursday with Marandi finally embracing the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik during a programme organised at Dumka in the presence of party president Babulal Marandi.
Marandi, former Deputy Chief Minister and MlA from Dumka, had sent his resignation to Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhdeo Bhagat a few days back.
The Dumka MlA walked into JVM fold with hundreds of his supporters, thus adding strength to the party in the region where the JVM chief will be contesting against JMM supremo and sitting MP, Shibu Soren.
“He realised that parties like Congress and BJP failed to fulfill people’s expectations. They have plundered State’s resources and used it for their gain,” said the JVM Chief at the ceremony.
On the occasion, Stephen alleged that the Congress ignored concerns of locals while inking the pact with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
